New James Bond Novel Solo Puts 007 in a Jensen FF

telematics car insuranceNothing says James Bond like tuxedos, martinis, women, fast cars and secret missions.  The latest mission of Mr. Bond has been delegated to the fictional agent by author William Boyd.  The title of the book staring Ian Fleming’s treasured British character is Solo.

Critics have been generous with praise for Solo and that surely comes as a relief to Mr. Boyd who was brave to take on such a risky venture.  It would be hard to impress long-time fans and still make the story and character relevant to today’s reader.  Needing to create a new story line but keep the voice of the original creator of James Bond would be a critical task to please all those so very well acquainted with the Bond series.

Other authors that have taken on the 007 agent story are Kingsley Amis, Sebastian Faulks and Jeffery Deaver.

Solo is set in 1969 as Bond is celebrating his 45th birthday.  The mission takes him to Africa.  He keeps all of his classic Bond habits including his affinity for driving sporty cars.  In this book he gets behind the wheel of an impressive Jensen FF.  For the promotional launch of Solo it was organized to have seven copies of the book locked away in a clear brief case escorted by vintage Jensen cars from London’s Dorchester Hotel to Heathrow Airport.  The books will be flown to Bond centered locations including Edinburgh, Sydney and Zurich.

Solo will be available in the UK and the US on 8 October.
