Driving Safe Required Because Others are Not

others driving unsafelyDriving safe is a behaviour that is constantly repeated by safety experts and safety charities.  It is something that drivers often take to heart that the message only applies to their own behaviours.  Therefore as long as they feel in control on the road then they are following safe driving rules.  Speeding a little, reaching for a mobile phone or grabbing a drink are all behaviours that done in control will likely have a fine ending as far as some are concerned, however the truth is that there are others on the road thinking the same thing.

The greater the odds build for an accident the greater the end result will turn out bad.  Should one driver be heading down the roadway while texting on their mobile phone and another be coming from the same direction speeding, while another driver turns to speak to a child in the back seat, the odds are building one upon another that someone could be hurt.  Driving safe is important because there are other drivers on the road that are not following safe driving rules.

Telematics car insurance is helping to keep drivers in a state of mindful safe driving.  Through the use of a GPS unit that collects driving data for risk assessment, drivers could be offered discounts on their premiums by driving safe.  The constant reminder to drive safe could also be a learning tool, as many drivers are unaware of how badly their driving is when they text or talk on their mobile phones, they reach for food or drink, they address children in the car, carry on conversations or simple change the radio station.  The same data used by the provider to determine the risk in coverage can be privately viewed by the driver.  Many a driver may be surprised to learn they haven’t been as safe on the road as thought after viewing their telematics car insurance data.  They might also think twice before choosing to drive distracted or to speed at all since the data is going to be collected and used to determine their premiums.

Overall, anything that helps a driver stay safer on the road is valuable.  The fact that it could also help a driver save money on car insurance adds to the attractiveness of telematics car insurance.  Staying safe behind the wheel is important but even more so since there are so many other drivers sharing the road that aren’t driving safe.

Car Insurance that Doesn’t Need Sherlock to Solve Questions

sherlock holmesCar insurance can be tricky to understand and that is likely the reason most people stay loyal to a policy and don’t seek out a switch.  Some policies can be so complicated to choose between that it would be helpful for Sherlock Holmes to make it plain.  There is one product that offers simple understanding and straightforward coverage that is changing how people view and buy car insurance.

Telematics car insurance is a relatively new type of car insurance.  While it has been around for a few years there are still many drivers that haven’t made themselves familiar with the coverage product.  It is different in that it involves a GPS unit to collect driving data on the driver for risk assessment.  Rather than using statistics or personal data to determine risk and premium costs, telematics uses the driver’s own driving data.  This allows a driver to directly impact the cost of their car insurance by driving safely and lowering the risk of coverage assessment by the provider.

The installation of the GPS unit is simplified by the provider coordinating the professional installment at the driver’s home or workplace.  Once a policy is purchased, coverage can begin immediately or at a desired date and the provider will offer a grace period in which the GPS unit must be installed.  They will work with the driver to determine an appointment for the installation.  Once installed the unit begins to gather the data required by the provider.  In some instances it is the number of miles driven and for other providers it could be detailed such as if the driver speeds, brakes hard, or takes curves sharply while behind the wheel.

Telematics car insurance can be found online.  Comparisons of providers and policies can also be done online.  With a click of the computer, a policy can be bought making a switch easy.  The good news about telematics car insurance is that it could offer savings in comparison to standard car insurance.  It could actually be the straightforward, easy to understand, easy to choose, easy to buy car insurance that offers both quality coverage and affordability.  Since experts suggest drivers shop around when renewal time comes, it makes sense to start with telematics car insurance.

Telematics Car Insurance Spotlights Safe Driving

telematics car insuranceCar insurance is now reaching new heights.  Safety is becoming the key focus of a new type of car insurance and the new type of car cover is known as telematics pay as you drive car insurance.  This is creating quite a buzz all over the UK and for good reason.

Car insurance has made a name for itself as being user friendly as well as being there for a driver when needed.  Now times are different.  Drivers expect more than just a car insurance product which provides support and assistance following a car crash or similar event.

Telematics car insurance is the product of choice now due to its unique way of covering drivers.  With telematics car insurance, drivers simply need to drive with safety in mind in order to receive valuable rewards from the insurer.  This process is made possible with a small device known as a POD or personal optimisation device.

The POD is quite important to the process and performs several functions within the scope of cover.  It monitors driving habits like acceleration, braking and cornering.  Additionally, it notes the time of day or night the car is driven, as well as monitoring the types of roads the car travels on.

Telematics car insurance is spotlighting safety by making it possible for drivers to potentially save money by driving with safety in mind.  Drivers save money after insurers evaluate the data collected in the POD and determine if they driver has been driving safely.  Insurers present safe drivers with rewards in the form of discounts to future monthly car insurance costs.

Car Swallowed by Sinkhole in Buckinghamshire

sinkhole buckinhamshireImagine going outside to find your family car has disappeared from where it was left the night before.  One might think immediately that the car had been stolen.  Thoughts would churn through the head as to who should be called – the authorities and the car insurance provider of course.  However, what if it was evident that the car was indeed gone from where it had been parked yet the reason was not theft but actually that it had been swallowed whole into the ground, who should be called?

The firefighters in Walter’s Ash, High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire were called to a property early Sunday morning reporting that a young driver’s car had been swallowed into a severely deep sinkhole right outside the home of Phil Conran.

Mr. Conran, step-father of the young driver and owner of the missing Volkswagen Lupo, explained that the ground had simply taken the car down into a 30 foot deep hole.  The diameter of the hole is estimated to be 15 feet wide.  The car was resting at the bottom of the hole covered in ground debris and rubble from the sinkhole collapse.

In an interview, Mr. Conran remarked, “At 7am my daughter normally goes to the stables. She went out the front door and instead of her car being there, there was a huge hole.”

Sinkholes in the area are rare but reportedly are due to clay mining and occur without warning.

A representative of the Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said, “Firefighters were called to a sinkhole which swallowed a parked car in the driveway of a house in Main Road, Walter’s Ash.  Firefighters placed a cordon around it and gave safety advice.

“The incident was handed over to building control at Wycombe District Council. Firefighters were at the scene for about an hour.”

Car Insurance Rates Drop Due to Comparison Shopping

car insurance prices fallingCar insurance rates have been dropping and according to the latest report from the Association of British Insurers (ABI) the average premium for a comprehensive policy fell by 8.9% in comparison to last year at a rate of £374 which is £36 less than twelve months ago.  The lower rates on the market are attributed to a crackdown on false claims being filed, namely for phony whiplash claims, and due to the fact that drivers are becoming better bargain shoppers when it comes to car insurance.  The new quarterly tracker is developed on data collected from the ABI’s 36 members in the UK according to actual insurance premiums paid by drivers on true policies versus other trackers that use quoted data for determination of averages.  It therefore reflects what people are already paying for insurance rather than what people would pay if they purchased a newly quoted policy.

The report also revealed that 81% of drivers in the UK bought their current policy after comparing prices.  Most used their smartphones, Web sites, and other online means to do their comparison shopping for car insurance.  This percentage of comparison shopping is higher than that of comparison shopping reported for energy suppliers (77%) or mobile phone providers (64%).

Experts suggest that those shopping for a new policy or those looking to switch should start with telematics.  Telematics car insurance could offer the opportunity for saving on car insurance above and beyond that of standard car insurance.  Even young drivers could find savings with telematics.

The current market has more competitive rates available than a year ago and therefore drivers are encouraged to consider shopping for a new policy to find savings that could be waiting for them with a simple switch.

Telematics Car Insurance Opens Eyes to Opportunity

telematics car insuranceCar insurance is not an inexpensive product.  It is a requirement for driving legally on any UK roadway and needs to remain affordable.  Car insurance prices have been falling recently, but the years prior were marked with month after month of increase.  This made it quite difficult to keep cars on the road, especially when combined with other car related expenses.  Not only is it important for drivers to constantly be aware of car insurance cost within the market, but especially around renewal time.

Renewal time could be referred to as opportunity time for drivers.  It is a time which most drivers take for granted and do not open their eyes to the opportunity before them.  Car insurance renewal time can be used to not only research other types of car insurance, but also to discover other types of cover and variations of cover available.

A new type of car insurance which is turning heads across the UK is known as telematics pay as you drive car insurance.  It is aiding drivers in the hunt for car insurance which aids in the effort of helping drivers with the cost of car insurance.

Telematics car insurance is being called revolutionary by drivers who have been covered with traditional car insurance for decades.  It is however to able to be taken advantage of if drivers do not take advantage of times like renewal time.  Telematics potentially has the ability to save money as well as help drivers become better drivers.

Drivers must be aware of the car insurance market in order to take advantage of opportunities available, especially at renewal time.

Car Insurance Competitive Market Good for Drivers

car insurance marketCar insurance providers have been competing for the attention of drivers.  The ability to shop online for car insurance has fostered an environment where consumers are better equipped and skilled to seek out cheaper pricing on policies.  To keep customers and gain new ones, providers have pushed pricing lower.  The benefit is that drivers are being offered some of the best car insurance pricing seen in the past year.

Telematics car insurance is suggested by experts to those seeking to make a switch.  The product offers the ability for a driver to have an impact on the premium cost they pay.  With the use of a high tech GPS unit installed into the car, a provider can gather data on the driver’s habits while behind the wheel.  Safe driving will gain lower risk coverage rates.  This is an opportunity that standard car insurance does not offer.

While the goal of shopping around for car insurance is to find the most affordable rate, drivers should not set aside quality coverage as a criterion.  Reviewing current coverage needs is suggested and then seeking quality coverage at the most affordable cost rather than just seeking the cheapest car insurance policy.  Car insurance is meant to offer a safety net in the event of an accident so the driver can get back onto the road quickly and without hardship.  Only by seeking out the best matched coverage will the driver have peace of mind that an unexpected event will not become more stressful due to lacking insurance.

Quality and affordability can be found together in one policy.  Shopping around online will offer quick access to finding the right coverage and in today’s competitive car insurance market it will likely offer the ability to save.
